Senator John Cornyn highlighted the upcoming Texas primary and recent developments in China’s military leadership in a series of posts on January 24, 2026.
In his first post, Cornyn drew attention to the approaching state primary, writing “39 days until Election Day in the Texas March 3 primary @TexasTribune” (January 24, 2026).
Turning to international affairs, Cornyn referenced reporting by The Wall Street Journal on a new anti-corruption investigation in China. He posted “Chinese leader Xi Jinping has placed his most senior general under investigation, extending a relentless crackdown on military corruption and disloyalty https://t.co/ik0RV9KPkf via @WSJ” (January 24, 2026). In a follow-up post the same day, he quoted part of the report: “‘Zhang, 75 years old, and Liu, 61, couldn’t be reached for comment.’ https://t.co/saBbTONw7o”.
Senator Cornyn has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since winning his first election in 2002. Over successive elections—including victories over Ron Kirk (2002), Rick Noriega (2008), David Alameel (2014), and MJ Hegar (2020)—he has maintained a consistent presence in Texas politics.
