Senator John Cornyn, a long-serving Republican from Texas, posted several updates on his Twitter account highlighting the state’s cattle industry and commenting on recent international developments.
On July 28, 2025, Cornyn emphasized Texas’s significant role in the U.S. beef market, stating, “Texas leads the nation in cattle production, supplying nearly 15% of the U.S. total beef production & generating more than $1 billion in revenue.”
In a follow-up post on the same day, Cornyn expressed appreciation for Secretary Rollins’s efforts to address threats to livestock health: “I am grateful to @SecRollins for her leadership to help stop the spread of this terrible parasite & I look forward to continuing to work with her to protect Texas cattle ranchers & our country’s food supply.”
The next morning, Cornyn turned his attention to foreign policy issues involving Russia and Ukraine. He wrote, “Donald Trump’s last offer was 50 days to make a deal or face sanctions, but Vladimir Putin shows no sign of giving up his war aim of making Ukraine a de facto Russian colony.”
Cornyn has served as U.S. Senator from Texas since 2002. He has consistently secured re-election victories over Democratic challengers MJ Hegar in 2020 (winning with 53.5% of the vote), David Alameel in 2014 (61.6%), Rick Noriega in 2008 (54.8%), and Ron Kirk in 2002 (55%).
