Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding political shifts among Hispanic voters in Texas, immigration policy under the Biden administration, and legislative actions related to border security funding.
On July 15, 2025, Cornyn addressed the changing political landscape in Texas by noting a shift among Hispanic voters. He wrote, “Hispanic voters in Texas have rapidly shifted in favor of the GOP, in large part thanks @realdonaldtrump, so a mid decade redistricting will mean significant gains for Texas Republicans.”
Later that day, Cornyn commented on the issue of unaccompanied minors at the U.S. border. He stated on July 15, 2025: “Thousands of missing unaccompanied minors are lost in the U.S. because of Biden’s open border policies. I am glad the Trump admin is taking swift action to find & rescue these children.”
In another post from July 15, 2025, Cornyn discussed concerns raised during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing about law enforcement’s ability to deport individuals residing illegally in the country while managing other enforcement priorities. He wrote: “During our @SenJudiciaryGOP hearing @SenatorDurbin had concerns about law enforcement’s ability to deport illegal aliens while still being able to execute other enforcement actions. Yet, he and others Ds voted against the #OBBB, which provides an additional $470 billion to”
These remarks come as Texas continues to be at the center of national debates over immigration and electoral politics. The Office of Border and Border Security Bill (#OBBB), referenced by Senator Cornyn, is legislation proposed by Republicans aiming to increase federal funding for border security initiatives.
