Senator John Cornyn posted a series of tweets on September 4, 2025, addressing recent Senate rules changes, crime in Washington D.C., and his views on national policy decisions.

In his first tweet at 13:41 UTC, Cornyn stated, “Proud to be a part of this historic and necessary rules change in the Senate. We must end the Democrats’ obstruction & confirm @POTUS’ nominees.”

Shortly after, at 13:46 UTC, he shared a link to a YouTube video with the comment: “John Cornyn: Washington, D.C. ‘Simply Picked The Wrong Side’ And Should …”

Later that day at 14:59 UTC, Cornyn referenced law enforcement efforts in the nation’s capital: “Just three weeks after @POTUS announced the National Guard would support law enforcement efforts in D.C., carjackings, burglary, & violent crime have all decreased compared to August 2024. I’m grateful to @realDonaldTrump & @USAttyPirro for their efforts to make D.C. safe”

Senator Cornyn has served as U.S. Senator from Texas since 2002. He won re-election multiple times, including victories over MJ Hegar in 2020 with 53.5% of the vote to Hegar’s 43.9%, David Alameel in 2014 with 61.6% to Alameel’s 34.3%, Rick Noriega in 2008 with 54.8% against Noriega’s 42.8%, and Ron Kirk in 2002 with a margin of 55% to Kirk’s 43%.
