Senator John Cornyn, a longtime Republican senator from Texas, recently posted a series of messages on his social media account highlighting business developments and educational visits involving the state. On March 11, 2026, Cornyn commented on Exxon’s relocation to Texas and praised former President Donald Trump for facilitating a major oil refinery project in Brownsville.
In his first post on March 11, Cornyn stated, “Seems like an obvious choice: Exxon is fleeing a blue state for the free state of Texas thanks to our conservative, pro-business environment. I look forward to seeing how Exxon grows their workforce in Texas.”
Later that day, he thanked former President Trump for supporting energy infrastructure in the region. Cornyn wrote on March 11, “Thank you @realDonaldTrump for spearheading a massive $300 billion oil refinery to locate in Brownsville. Not only will this project grow the energy workforce in the Rio Grande Valley, but it will also help Texas continue to lead the nation in energy production.”
Cornyn also highlighted an educational visit to Washington D.C., sharing on March 11: “Great to see Pastor @jackngraham from @Prestonwood Baptist in townwith @PCASchoolSystem 8th graders for spring break. I always enjoy meeting Texas students visiting D.C. to learn more about our government and nation’s history.”
Senator Cornyn has served as U.S. Senator since 2002 and has won several re-election campaigns by significant margins over Democratic challengers such as MJ Hegar (2020), David Alameel (2014), Rick Noriega (2008), and Ron Kirk (2002).
