Senator John Cornyn, a longtime Republican senator from Texas, recently addressed major law enforcement actions and political developments in a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 3, 2025, Cornyn highlighted a significant drug bust linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, stating: “This historic bust was made possible due to @POTUS’ designation of Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel as a foreign terrorist organization & represents the largest law enforcement interdiction of precursors in history. Grateful that deadly drugs were kept off our streets. I will continue”.
The following day, on September 4, 2025, Cornyn commented on the ongoing Texas Senate GOP primary contest against Ken Paxton by sharing a news article and noting: “Sen. Cornyn puts character on the ballot in Texas Senate GOP primary battle against Ken Paxton https://t.co/FMfWvRAcTW via @CBSNewsTexas”.
Later that morning, he also raised concerns about cybersecurity threats reportedly originating from China: “‘Unrestrained’ Chinese Cyberattackers May Have Stolen Data From Almost Every American https://t.co/EP6AUL0cKb”.
Senator Cornyn has held his seat since first winning election in 2002 and has consistently secured re-election over multiple cycles. In 2020, he defeated MJ Hegar with 53.5% of the vote. He previously won against David Alameel in 2014 with 61.6%, Rick Noriega in 2008 with 54.8%, and Ron Kirk in 2002 with 55%. These victories have established him as one of Texas’s most enduring political figures.
