Senator John Cornyn posted a series of tweets on August 4, 2025, criticizing actions by Texas House Democrats and referencing comments made by Rep. Gene Wu.
In his first tweet, Cornyn highlighted a statement from Rep. Gene Wu: “Rep. Gene Wu claimed this was “a serious sacrifice for many members.” Then he tweeted… whatever this is:” (August 4, 2025).
Cornyn continued in another post: “And don’t forget when TX House Dems requested “care packages” for abandoning their constituents and refusing to show up for work.” (August 4, 2025).
He added further criticism with a third tweet: “But wait, there’s more: This ridiculous post from another one of the fleeing democrats is still up.” (August 4, 2025).
Senator John Cornyn has served as U.S. Senator from Texas since 2002. He has won several re-election campaigns over the years, including victories against MJ Hegar in 2020 with approximately 53.5% of the vote, David Alameel in 2014 with about 61.6%, Rick Noriega in 2008 with around 54.8%, and Ron Kirk in 2002 with roughly 55%.
