Senator John Cornyn, a Republican representing Texas, posted a series of tweets on November 19, 2025, criticizing Democrats and the media for their handling of immigration enforcement and law enforcement officers.

In his first post, Cornyn stated: “Democrats & the media haven’t hesitated to spread misinformation or vilify our law enforcement & incite violent mobs. This has led to a widespread assault on our immigration enforcement officers. Agitators have rammed officers with vehicles, thrown tear gas, smoke grenades, rocks” (November 19, 2025).

He continued in a subsequent tweet: “Now, @ICEgov & the Trump admin are tasked with cleaning up the previous admin’s mess. ICE would not have to go into communities & find criminal aliens if local officials would simply cooperate with federal law enforcement. All our immigration enforcement officers are doing is” (November 19, 2025).

In another post from the same day, Cornyn criticized media coverage and reiterated his support for law enforcement: “While the mainstream media will stop at NOTHING to spread lies & defame those who have sworn to uphold our laws, my Republican colleagues & I are not afraid to push back to show the American people the truth.” (November 19, 2025).

Senator Cornyn has held his seat since first winning election in 2002 against Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote. He was subsequently re-elected in 2008 over Rick Noriega with nearly 55%, again in 2014 over David Alameel with more than 61%, and most recently in 2020 against MJ Hegar with approximately 53% of votes.
