Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, recently posted a series of tweets addressing political issues including the ongoing government shutdown and economic policy debates.

The following morning, Cornyn shared an opinion piece from The Wall Street Journal regarding economic policy under President Biden. On October 2, 2025, he tweeted: “Democrats Demand Return of Bidenomics https://t.co/Rgj2TYXXT4 via @WSJopinion”.
Cornyn has held his Senate seat since first winning election in 2002 against Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote. He was re-elected in subsequent contests: defeating Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55%, David Alameel in 2014 with over 61%, and MJ Hegar in 2020 with more than 53%.
