On the same day, he wrote: “Texas Majority PAC, a group backed by Democratic megadonor George Soros and formed by alums of O’Rourke’s 2022 gubernatorial bid, is coordinating with national Democratic groups to solicit fundraising from the party’s regular big-dollar donors, according to two people with”

In another post that day, Cornyn expressed appreciation for the Texas governor: “Thank you @GregAbbott_TX for taking the lead in holding Democrats accountable.”

Senator Cornyn has been a prominent figure in Texas politics for decades. He won his most recent reelection in 2020 against MJ Hegar with 53.5% of the vote. In previous Senate races, he defeated David Alameel in 2014 with 61.6%, Rick Noriega in 2008 with 54.8%, and Ron Kirk in 2002 with 55%. These victories have established him as a key Republican leader in Texas over multiple election cycles.
