Senator John Cornyn, U.S. Senator from Texas, addressed a range of policy and political issues in a series of posts on September 5, 2025. Cornyn discussed criminal justice reform, family values, and partisan disagreements over public safety.

On the subject of bail reform, Cornyn stated: “Cashless bail is a soft-on-crime policy that not only endangers Americans, it erodes trust in our justice system. D.C. should be the model for the rest of the nation in law & order, which is I’m why proud to work with @POTUS + @MarshaBlackburn to end cashless bail.” (September 5, 2025)

Cornyn also highlighted his commitment to conservative principles and recognition from advocacy groups: “Defending faith & family values isn’t just a slogan for me, it is who I am. I am proud to have received a 100% award from @FRCAction for my voting record on championing Texas values in the U.S. Senate. @FRCdc” (September 5, 2025)

Addressing partisan divides on crime and public safety, he wrote: “Democrats have taken Trump Derangement Syndrome to a whole new level. Instead of agreeing with @POTUS that public safety is important & working together, they’ve chosen to support lawlessness & crime. Without @realDonaldTrump’s leadership, D.C. crime would still be out of” (September 5, 2025)

Senator Cornyn has held his seat since first being elected in 2002 after defeating Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote compared to Kirk’s 43%. He secured re-election in subsequent years: winning against Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55% of votes; against David Alameel in 2014 with over 61%; and most recently defeating MJ Hegar in the general election with approximately 53% of votes.
