Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, used his social media platform on August 4 and 5, 2025, to comment on U.S. border policy, international mineral supply chains, and the performance of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
On August 4, Cornyn criticized President Biden’s handling of border security, writing: “Murderers, robbers, rapists…..Biden’s Border Betrayal legacy.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about global supply chains for defense manufacturing materials: “China is limiting the flow of critical minerals to Western defense manufacturers, forcing them to scour the world for stockpiles of the minerals needed to make everything from bullets to jet fighters” (August 4).
On August 5, Cornyn directed a message at Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton: “Memo to @kenpaxtontx: Hey, Ken. Are you in the office today? It’s kind of important. Let me know if you need the address.
Get off the golf course in Scotland and do your job. President Trump and Governor Abbott need a focused AG. For once.

Senator Cornyn has served as a U.S. Senator from Texas since 2002. He has secured multiple election victories over Democratic challengers in past general elections—defeating MJ Hegar in 2020 with 53.5% of the vote; David Alameel in 2014 with 61.6%; Rick Noriega in 2008 with 54.8%; and Ron Kirk in 2002 with 55%. These results have established him as a prominent figure within Texas politics.
