Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, shared several posts on July 29, 2025, addressing U.S. trade policy, executions in Iran, and the Senate’s confirmation process for presidential nominees.
In a post at 10:38 a.m., Cornyn highlighted an opinion piece by Walter Russell Mead published in The Wall Street Journal, stating: “Trump’s Trade Policy Triumphs by @wrmead https://t.co/ZrT12Z1Hlk via @WSJopinion”.
Later that day at 2:59 p.m., Cornyn referenced a Fox News report about Iran’s use of capital punishment: “Iran more than doubles state executions in first half of 2025 https://t.co/MMPertgkTx #FoxNews”.
At 6:00 p.m., he addressed the ongoing issue of Senate confirmations for presidential nominees. He wrote: “Democrats are reflexively blocking all of @POTUS ‘s well-qualified nominees. It is past time to break the logjam. Republicans must consider all options to get the President’s team on the job. Now!”
Senator Cornyn has served as a U.S. Senator from Texas since winning his first election in 2002 against Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote. He was re-elected in subsequent cycles, defeating Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55%, David Alameel in 2014 with over 61%, and MJ Hegar in 2020 with more than 53%.
