Senator John Cornyn has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since winning his first election in 2002. He secured reelection in subsequent contests: defeating Ron Kirk in 2002 with 55% of the vote to Kirk’s 43%, Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55% to Noriega’s almost 43%, David Alameel in 2014 by over twenty percentage points, and MJ Hegar in 2020 with a margin of roughly ten points.
