Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, posted several comments on his Twitter account on March 9, 2026, addressing topics related to national politics and energy policy.

In one post, Cornyn referenced Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, stating: “Translation: Schumer promoting Paxton, who he knows would be Ds best chance to win a red Senate seat.” (March 9, 2026).

Shortly after, Cornyn commented on the situation of Transportation Security Administration employees during a government shutdown or funding lapse. He wrote: “Heroic (and unpaid) TSA employees, thanks to Democrats” (March 9, 2026).

Later that morning, Cornyn shared an article from The Wall Street Journal Opinion section about U.S. energy production and its impact on Iran. He posted: “How America’s Oil and Gas Dominance Has Weakened Iran by Allysia Finley https://t.co/nFsQfVrRdS via @WSJopinion” (March 9, 2026).

Senator Cornyn has served as U.S. Senator for Texas since winning his first election in 2002 against Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote. He was re-elected in subsequent years: defeating Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55%, David Alameel in 2014 with over 61%, and MJ Hegar in 2020 with just over 53%.
