Senator John Cornyn, a longtime U.S. Senator from Texas, posted several comments on his official X (formerly Twitter) account between March 8 and March 9, 2026, addressing issues related to public office and the SAVE America Act.

On March 8, Cornyn shared a post that read, “Maybe how to get rich in public office https://t.co/p2sDn5D1TT”. Later that day, he responded critically to another tweet regarding voting restrictions and immigration policy: “This is one of your dumbest tweets yet! The only people who wouldn’t be able to vote due to the SAVE America Act are non-citizens. You’re once again threatening to hold the Senate hostage to benefit illegal aliens – just like you did in the last shutdown. No wonder Americans https://t.co/8Tu0Z6Csf6”. On March 9, he followed up with a brief statement of support: “You aren’t alone https://t.co/K43eiQB7hF”.

Senator Cornyn has served in the U.S. Senate since winning his first election in 2002. He defeated Ron Kirk that year with 55% of the vote compared to Kirk’s 43%. In subsequent elections, Cornyn maintained significant margins over his opponents: defeating Rick Noriega in 2008 with nearly 55% of the vote; David Alameel in 2014 with over 61%; and MJ Hegar in 2020 with more than 53%.
