Senator John Cornyn, a Republican representing Texas in the U.S. Senate, made several posts on his Twitter account on July 21, 2025, addressing political developments in Minnesota, legislative efforts targeting the Muslim Brotherhood, and an incident involving a Dallas VA Police Officer.
In his first post of the day, Cornyn commented on Minnesota’s political climate: “While I hope common sense will prevail in MN & radical socialism will be rejected by voters, they elected Rep. Ilhan Omar as one of their representatives in Congress. I’m not holding my breath.” (July 21, 2025).
Later that afternoon, he expressed support for new legislation: “I am proud to support legislation to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization & impose strict sanctions on them & their proxies who chant ‘Death to America.’ This legislation sends a clear message to groups like Hamas & other affiliates that their” (July 21, 2025). The proposed legislation aims to formally classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group and enforce sanctions against its members and affiliates.
In another post that evening, Cornyn highlighted the actions of a local law enforcement officer: “Dallas VA Police Officer Cpl. Lee Higginbotham’s quick and decisive action saved the life of a choking two-year-old. Heroes like Cpl. Higginbotham are making Texas proud every day. #BackTheBlue” (July 21, 2025). The tweet praised Cpl. Higginbotham for responding swiftly to save a child’s life.
Senator Cornyn has served as Texas’ senior senator since 2002 and is known for his positions on national security issues and support for law enforcement agencies.
