Later that day at 16:25 UTC, Cornyn commented on the removal of Univision content from YouTube TV due to a contract dispute with Google. He wrote: “There is still time for Google to “Do the Right Thing” and come back to the negotiating table with @Univision to add its content back to basic YouTube TV.

Addressing the federal government shutdown in another post at 17:33 UTC, Cornyn assured constituents that his offices would remain operational. He stated: “During the #SchumerShutdown, my offices will remain open and fully staffed to continue serving the more than 31 million Texans I represent.
The @SenateGOP will continue to vote to reopen the government & confirm @POTUS’ nominees because unlike Democrats, we’re working for the” (October 1, 2025).
Cornyn’s comments come amid a period of heightened political tension over government funding and disputes involving major media providers. The senator has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since winning his first election in 2002 against Ron Kirk with 55% of the vote. He subsequently won reelection campaigns in 2008 against Rick Noriega (54.8%), in 2014 against David Alameel (61.6%), and most recently in 2020 against MJ Hegar (53.5%).
