U.S. Senator John Cornyn has formally requested that the Department of Justice investigate potential legal violations related to the health disclosures of former President Joe Biden. In a letter addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Cornyn expressed concerns about alleged misrepresentations made by Biden’s associates regarding his health during his presidency.
Cornyn stated, “I am concerned that during his time in office, President Biden’s associates, including his doctor, made misrepresentations or material omissions about the status of his health and the existence of any medical conditions, mental and physical.” He further noted fears that the American public was not fully informed about Biden’s health status.
The senator highlighted discrepancies between public statements and internal discussions concerning Biden’s capacity while in office. He cited reports suggesting that although publicly declared “fit for duty,” Biden was reportedly only capable of “four to six good hours a day.” Cornyn also pointed out instances where staff allegedly refused cognitive testing for Biden despite questions surrounding his memory and capacity.
Cornyn argued these actions could have undermined public trust in government and affected national security. He emphasized the importance of transparency from leaders, referencing constitutional provisions like the 25th Amendment which addresses presidential disability.
The call for investigation follows an announcement from Biden’s personal office revealing a diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer. This revelation came alongside media reports questioning his mental state during his presidency.
Cornyn concluded by urging a thorough DOJ investigation to determine if any federal laws were breached during Biden’s administration.
