Rice University announced on April 24 that the Rice women’s tennis team will hold a watch party for the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday, April 27, at the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center. Doors are scheduled to open at 3:15 p.m., with the event beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The announcement follows Rice’s recent victory in securing its first American Conference title last weekend, which guaranteed their spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The team currently holds a No. 42 national ranking, marking its highest position this season. Additionally, the doubles pairing of Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte is ranked No. 51.

During the watch party, attendees will be able to view the live broadcast of the NCAA Tournament selection show on NCAA.com. The broadcast will reveal all teams participating in this year’s tournament and announce Rice’s first-round opponent and match location.

Last season, Rice received an at-large bid to participate in the tournament and traveled to College Station, where they were narrowly defeated by UC Santa Barbara with a score of 4-3.

The watch party offers an opportunity for supporters and team members to come together as they await news about their path forward in national competition.
