The Rice Owls women’s tennis team will host South Florida on April 3 and Florida International University on April 5 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston. Senior Darya Schwartzman will be recognized during Friday’s match against South Florida.

These matches are important for the Owls, who hold an overall record of 11-6 and a home record of 6-1 this season. The team recently split their matches in San Diego, winning against UC San Diego with a score of 4-0 before narrowly losing to No. 46 San Diego, 4-3.

Rice leads both all-time series against their upcoming opponents, with a 10-4 advantage over South Florida and a slim 7-6 lead over FIU. At home, the Owls are currently 3-1 against the Bulls; their last meeting in Houston resulted in a close loss on March 31, 2023. Against FIU at home, Rice has won all three previous encounters, most recently securing a victory on April 2, 2023.

In recent rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Rice is placed at No. 57 as a team. Additionally, the doubles pairing of Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte is ranked No. 41.

The recognition of Schwartzman highlights her contributions to the program as she competes in her final season with Rice.
