The Rice men’s track and field team will hold its final home meet of the season with the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet scheduled for Saturday at the Wendel D. Ley Track, according to an April 24 announcement.

The event is significant as it offers several Rice athletes, who have posted some of the top times and marks in the American Conference, a chance to compete before a home crowd.

Jordan Edmondson currently holds the second fastest time in the conference for the 800 meters (1:49.31), while Marcus Gaitan is ranked fourth (1:50.13). Freshman Edward Bocock aims to improve his sixth-best time in the American Conference in the 400-meter hurdles. Andrew Murray will attempt to build on his personal-best time from last week in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where he ranks third with a time of 8:53.50.

In field events, Sultan Bakare leads the conference in shot put and is second in hammer throw, while Daniel Sowell stands fourth in hammer throw and seventh in shot put. Jack Greaves enters as conference leader after recording a personal best throw of 74.22 meters earlier this season. Juan Marais looks to continue his progress after achieving a personal best discus throw of 58.49 meters last week, placing him second in the conference.

A range of athletes are set to compete across multiple events including sprints, hurdles, middle- and long-distance races, jumps, throws, pole vaulting, and high jump.
