The Rice Men’s Golf team will compete as the 10th seed in the NCAA Athens Regional, which takes place from May 18 to May 20 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.

This event is significant for Rice, currently ranked 62nd in Scoreboard rankings, as it represents an opportunity to advance toward the national championship. The regional field includes teams such as Auburn (No. 1 seed), Illinois (No. 2), Vanderbilt (No. 3), BYU (No. 4), and several others alongside Rice.

Head Coach Justin Emil said, “We are thrilled to be selected for regionals but our goal since Day One has been to get to Nationals. This is the next step toward that goal. We have to be disciplined and in the moment this week to advance.” The Owls’ lineup features Lukas Boandl at No.1 position, Daniel Zou at No.2, Henry Daly at No.3, Reggie Zhu at No.4, and Raines Watson at No.5; Davis Byrd serves as substitute.

Fans can watch coverage of the regional on Babygrande.com or follow live scoring on Scoreboard.com during all three days of competition.

If Rice finishes among the top five teams in this regional tournament, they will move on to play in the NCAA Championship scheduled for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Golf Resort in Carlsbad.
