Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a U.S. Congresswoman from Texas, posted on her Twitter account about the release of more than $600 million in funding for public schools in Texas that she says was previously withheld by the Trump administration.
On July 29, 2025, Garcia wrote, “The Trump administration is releasing more than $600 million that was being illegally withheld from public schools in Texas. I’m proud to have stood up for our students and educators to help ensure this critical funding finally reaches our classrooms and communities—where it”.

Garcia has represented her district since first winning election in 2018. She has secured re-election in subsequent general elections: defeating Phillip Aronoff in 2018 with over 75% of the vote; Jaimy Blanco in 2020 with over 71%; Robert Schafranek in 2022 with more than 71%; and Alan Garza in 2024 with over 65%.
