Garcia has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 29th District since replacing Gene Green in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. She was born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 and currently resides in Houston at age 72. Her academic background includes a BA from Texas Woman’s University (1972) and a JD from Texas Southern University.
