Rep. Sylvia Garcia, U.S. Congresswoman representing Texas’s 29th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on July 18, 2025, criticizing recent Republican fiscal decisions and expressing support for law enforcement officers.

Later that day at 2:36 p.m. UTC, Garcia commented on an incident involving local law enforcement: “Grateful Sgt. Paul George’s injuries weren’t life-threatening. Praying for his full recovery. Our officers face real dangers every day. We thank them for their service.

Garcia has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 29th District since replacing Gene Green in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. She was born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 and currently resides in Houston at age 72. Her academic background includes a BA from Texas Woman’s University (1972) and a JD from Texas Southern University.
