Representative Sylvia Garcia, currently serving Texas’ 29th district in the U.S. Congress, shared her perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets on July 10, 2025.
In her first tweet posted at 15:21 UTC, “At a time when lawmakers face rising threats of violence, Randy Fine’s racist, Islamophobic smear is vile and dangerous. Hate like this has no place in Congress, or anywhere. An attack on one is an attack on all. I stand with my colleague @Ilhan.” Representative Garcia condemned the remarks made by Randy Fine, highlighting the dangers of such rhetoric amidst increasing threats against lawmakers.
Later that day at 18:37 UTC, Garcia addressed financial misconduct involving military personnel. She tweeted “Imagine thinking that ‘support the troops’ means letting banks keep $80 million they stole from service members, veterans, and their families. Trump is allowing this to happen under his watch.” She stressed the importance of empowering the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to prevent such incidents.
Finally, at 19:15 UTC, she congratulated Susan D’Amico for her new role as State President of the Texas Association for School Nutrition. In her tweet “Congratulations to Susan D’Amico, Child Nutrition Executive Director…”, Garcia emphasized the significance of investing in child nutrition programs.
Representative Sylvia Garcia has served in Congress since replacing Gene Green in 2019 and previously held a position in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. Born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 and residing in Houston today, she holds degrees from Texas Woman’s University and Texas Southern University.
