Rep. Sylvia Garcia, who represents Texas’ 29th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on her Twitter account a series of updates regarding federal funding, local education initiatives, and national policy issues.
On February 3, 2026, Garcia posted: “BIG NEWS I’m proud to have secured over $13 million in federal funding today to bring back to our community for local projects. These investments will strengthen our infrastructure and support working families.” She credited the House Democrats for this achievement.
Later that same day, Garcia shared details about her engagement with local educational leaders: “Today I met with the Spring ISD @SpringISD Board of Trustees to talk about collaboration and how we can strengthen public education in our community. I’ll keep working to support our students and educators.”
The following day, on February 4, Garcia commented on national politics by criticizing former President Donald Trump’s approach to immigration and housing policy: “Trump is scapegoating immigrants to distract from his total failure to fix housing costs. This administration has zero interest in making life more affordable for working families. @USHouseFSC”
Garcia has represented Texas’s 29th District since 2019 after succeeding Gene Green. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. In recent elections, Garcia has consistently won by significant margins; she defeated Alan Garza in the 2024 general election with approximately 65% of the vote and previously secured victories against Robert Schafranek (2022), Jaimy Blanco (2020), and Phillip Aronoff (2018).
