On May 21, 2025, Rep. Garcia shared her concerns about economic policies she perceives as favoring the wealthy at the expense of the less fortunate. She described these actions as “Reverse robinhood. Take from the poor to give to the rich.“

Sylvia Garcia has been serving in Congress since replacing Gene Green in 2019 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. Born in San Diego, Texas in 1950 and currently residing in Houston, she holds degrees from Texas Woman’s University and Texas Southern University.
