Rep. Sylvia Garcia, who represents Texas’ 29th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed economic and religious topics in a series of posts on her social media account between April 2 and April 5, 2026.
On April 2, Garcia commented on the impact of tariffs under former President Trump, stating: “While families are already living paycheck to paycheck, Trump’s tariffs have made it worse:
Unaffordable housing costs
More expensive cars
Rising grocery prices”.
The following day, April 3, she extended wishes to those observing Good Friday: “Wishing everyone observing Good Friday in TX-29 and across the country a meaningful day of solemn reflection and prayer.
May this time remind us of the power of faith, sacrifice, and hope. #GoodFriday”.
On April 5, Garcia marked Easter with another message: “This #Easter, we celebrate hope, renewal, and new beginnings with communities in TX-29 and across the country. Wishing everyone a joyful and meaningful day.”
Garcia has served as the representative for Texas’s 29th District since replacing Gene Green in 2019. She previously held office in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018. In recent elections for her congressional seat, Garcia won against Alan Garza in 2024 with approximately 65% of the vote; she also secured victories over Robert Schafranek in 2022 (71%), Jaimy Blanco in 2020 (71%), and Phillip Aronoff in 2018 (75%).
