Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 29th district, has recently shared her views on several pressing issues via social media. Known for her tenure in the Texas Senate from 2013 to 2018 and succeeding Gene Green in Congress in 2019, Garcia has addressed topics concerning Afghan allies and demonstrations in Los Angeles.
On June 8, 2025, Rep. Garcia expressed her support for Afghan allies who have worked alongside American armed forces. She stated “Our Afghan Allies are heroes and as American in their hearts as our armed forces that served alongside them. This is not the American way.”
The following day, June 9, she issued a statement regarding demonstrations taking place in Los Angeles. Her post read: “Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia Statement on Demonstrations in Los Angeles https://t.co/CqZ2DwMqzD”.

Sylvia Garcia was born in San Diego, Texas, and currently resides in Houston. She holds a BA from Texas Woman’s University and a JD from Texas Southern University.
