Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 7th district since 2019, shared her reflections on various issues via Twitter on May 22, 2025. Fletcher, born in Houston in 1975 and an alumna of Kenyon College and the College of William and Mary, addressed topics ranging from tragic events to historical reflections and legislative concerns.
On the morning of May 22, Fletcher expressed her condolences regarding a tragic incident involving two young staff members from the Embassy of Israel. “My thoughts this morning are with the families and friends of two young staff members from the Embassy of Israel who were shot and killed as they left an American Jewish Committee event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., as well as with the people across our”, she tweeted.
Later that day, Fletcher commemorated President Lyndon Johnson’s vision for a Great Society outlined in 1964. In another tweet posted on May 22, Fletcher discussed recent congressional activities concerning domestic supply chains for critical minerals. She criticized House Republicans’ decision to roll back investments made under previous legislation. “At our E&C Oversight hearing this week, we examined domestic supply chains for critical minerals. Meanwhile, House Republicans just voted to weaken our supply chain for critical minerals by rolling back the important investments Congress made in the Inflation Reduction Act and”, she stated.
