Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, serving Texas’ 7th district since 2019, has recently taken to social media to address a variety of topics ranging from legislative initiatives to cultural celebrations. Fletcher, who succeeded John Culberson in Congress and resides in Houston, Texas, shared her thoughts on several issues important to her constituents.
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Fletcher tweeted about her commitment to addressing gun violence. She stated: “As a member of the @HouseGVP, I am committed to ending the mass shootings, partner violence, and preventable deaths that irresponsible gun use brings.” Fletcher emphasized the importance of strengthening the background check system and urged her Republican colleagues to support this initiative by cosponsoring relevant legislation.
Later that day, Fletcher extended greetings for Eid al-Fitr with a tweet expressing her wishes for peace and joy: “Eid Mubarak! Wishing families in #TX07 and around the world an Eid of reflection, togetherness, peace, and joy.”
On June 7, 2025, Rep. Fletcher announced the opening of the Congressional App Challenge for high school students within her district. She invited students to participate in creating app ideas for a chance to attend the House Of Code event in Washington D.C.: “The #TX07 Congressional App Challenge is officially open! High school students are invited to come up with an app idea and submit it to win and attend the #HouseOfCode in Washington, DC next summer.”
Lizzie Pannill Fletcher was born in Houston in 1975 and pursued higher education at Kenyon College and the College of William & Mary before embarking on her political career.
