Rep. Dan Crenshaw, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 2nd district, shared his perspectives on recent legislative efforts and controversies via social media.

On June 5, 2025, Crenshaw discussed his personal connection to military mental health issues and his legislative actions to address them. “This mission has always been personal. I’ve lost brothers to the invisible wounds, and I’ve watched others recover when nothing else worked.” He elaborated on a law he passed authorizing Department of Defense trials on psychedelic therapies such as psilocybin and ibogaine, referencing a Stanford study on ibogaine.

Later that day, Crenshaw addressed accusations regarding legislation potentially affecting mortality rates. “If you’re going to accuse us of writing a bill that kills 51,000 people a year, you’d better have the facts to back it up.” He criticized Senator Bernie Sanders for allegedly using research from Yale and Penn without solid evidence. Crenshaw claimed the data was manipulated for political purposes.

In another tweet posted almost simultaneously, Crenshaw responded to claims about seniors losing access to drug subsidies due to eligibility updates. “They say 18,200 seniors will die from losing automatic access to drug subsidies. That’s not how this works.” He clarified that affected seniors could still apply for assistance and argued that the changes were routine adjustments similar to other programs.

Dan Crenshaw was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1984 and is currently living in Humble at age 39. He graduated from Tufts University in 2006 with a BA.
