Petro Kuzmenok named American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

Junior Petro Kuzmenok was named the American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league on Apr. 7.

This recognition is Kuzmenok’s third conference award this season and his second time being selected as Player of the Week. He received this honor after a successful weekend in which the Owls won both their matches against conference opponents Tulsa and Memphis.

Kuzmenok, partnering with Santiago Navarro in doubles, achieved victories over Tulsa with a score of 6-3 and Memphis with a score of 6-4. In singles play, he defeated Nikita Volonski from Tulsa 7-5, 6-3 and Moritz Kusernatsch from Memphis 6-1, 6-4.

According to recent ITA rankings, Kuzmenok is ranked No. 54 in singles and No. 47 in doubles alongside Navarro. The pair has recorded an overall season record of 18 wins and seven losses in doubles, while Kuzmenok has posted a singles record of twenty wins to six losses.

The Owls are scheduled to close out their regular season at home during the Turpin Cup by hosting SMU on Senior Day. The first serve is set for 5:30 p.m., preceded by a senior ceremony at 4:50 p.m.
