Junior Patrick Flowers achieved a personal milestone on April 16 by winning the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase at the Wake Forest Invitational held at Kentner Stadium. Flowers finished with a time of 8:51.96, which lowered his previous best by over thirteen seconds and moved him from ninth to fifth place on Houston’s all-time performance list.

The event also saw sophomore Invida Maurina finish fourth in section two of the women’s 800-meter invite, recording a time of 2:05.57. At another meet, the Mt. SAC Relays, graduate Grant Levesque began competing in the decathlon but had to withdraw before completing the event.

The Houston Cougars are scheduled to return home for the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Friday and Saturday. Alumni are invited to attend, with special activities planned for Saturday and an alumni tent opening at 11:30 a.m. Field events will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by running events beginning at 12:30 p.m.
