The Brightpointe was the third largest nursing home in Montgomery County during the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The facility was equipped with 150 beds—10 more than the county average for that period—and provided care to an average of 78 residents in the quarter.

The CMS awarded The Brightpointe a 4-out-of-5 overall rating, outpacing the Texas statewide nursing home average of 2.7.

The Woodlands Healthcare Center was the largest local nursing home, offering 214 beds, followed by Kingwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center with 194 beds.

By the end of the quarter, The Brightpointe had paid $21,037 in fines and incurred two penalties.

Montgomery County, Texas, had eight for-profit nursing homes in total.

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the nation’s population of older adults continues to increase as the number of younger people declines. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under age 18 decreased by 1.7%. The American older adult population has expanded significantly over the past century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study estimates that almost half of the population in this age group, or about 28 million people, could require long-term services and supports. The report also projects that more than one-third may ultimately need care in nursing home settings.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
