U.S. Representative Lizzie Fletcher, who has represented Texas’ 7th district since 2019, recently used her social media platform to comment on ongoing congressional debates and highlight local constituent services.
On July 21, 2025, Fletcher posted about the disconnect she sees in congressional discussions regarding federal program funding. She wrote, “Congress keeps talking about reauthorizing programs that the Trump administration is cutting with Republicans’ consent. Make it make sense. I raised this issue once again at our @EnergyCommerce Health hearing last week.”
Later that day, Fletcher addressed her opposition to a Republican-led proposal to defund public media. In her post dated July 21, 2025, she stated, “People in #TX07 rely on public radio and TV stations not only for their news, but also for life-saving updates during emergencies. That’s one of the reasons why I voted against the Republicans’ package to defund public media and other important programs.”
On July 22, 2025, Fletcher announced a local outreach event: “This Wednesday, #TeamTX07’s constituent advocates will be in Sugar Land at the University Branch Library to help answer questions regarding federal agencies, like Social Security and the IRS. Stop by anytime between 10am and noon!”
Lizzie Pannill Fletcher was born in Houston in 1975 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Kenyon College with a BA in 1997 and later earned a JD from the College of William and Mary in 2006. Since succeeding John Culberson as representative of Texas’s 7th District in Congress in 2019, Fletcher has focused on issues affecting her constituents both locally and nationally.
