Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 7th district since 2019, recently shared her thoughts on various topics through a series of tweets. Fletcher, who succeeded John Culberson and was born in Houston in 1975, often uses social media to engage with constituents and share insights on legislative matters.
On May 21, 2025, Fletcher expressed concerns regarding the Republican budget bill, stating that it is “full of ideas that have failed in states across the country.” She pointed to Texas as an example where similar policies led to negative outcomes such as people losing their health care. “Let’s learn from the failed experiments in states like Texas, where people lost their health care and died when Texas enacted similar policies,” she urged.
Later that day, Fletcher mentioned the release of the Kinder Survey results for 2025. She described these findings as “always an interesting read.”
In another tweet on the same day, Fletcher commemorated a historical milestone: “#OnThisDay in 1919, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote.” She encouraged honoring suffragists who fought for equality and continuing their work for equal rights.
Fletcher’s academic background includes a BA from Kenyon College and a JD from the College of William and Mary. She resides in Houston, maintaining strong ties to her community while serving in Congress.
