Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 7th district, has been active on social media discussing various issues pertinent to her constituents. Born in Houston, Texas in 1975, Fletcher has served since 2019 after replacing John Culberson. She holds a BA from Kenyon College and a JD from the College of William and Mary.
On May 6, 2025, Fletcher announced her plans to host a webinar focused on the upcoming hurricane season. “With hurricane season around the corner, I am hosting a webinar on the 2025 hurricane season outlook and preparedness,” she stated. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m., with sign-up details provided in her post.
The following day, May 7, Fletcher expressed gratitude towards nurses working tirelessly across her community and beyond. “To the nurses who have seen it all and work long hours to help us, in #TX07 and across our community, thank you,” she wrote. She emphasized her efforts in Washington to ensure healthcare providers receive necessary resources during challenging times.
Later that same day, Fletcher raised concerns about staffing cuts affecting critical services at NWS Houston/Galveston due to decisions by President Trump. “The NWS Houston/Galveston will soon lose all of its leadership staff because of President Trump’s staffing cuts,” she noted. Highlighting Hurricane Preparedness Week, she questioned how the agency plans to maintain essential services amid these reductions.
