Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 7th district, has taken to social media to address various issues concerning her constituents and national matters. A native of Houston, Texas, Fletcher succeeded John Culberson in 2019 and has since been an active voice on both local and broader topics.
On May 17, 2025, Fletcher expressed concerns about preparedness for future hurricanes in Houston. She criticized actions by the Trump administration regarding staffing at the National Weather Service’s Houston office. “Houstonians already feel unprepared for the next big hurricane. That is why I have been speaking out against the Trump administration’s actions to cut staff and the staffing shortage at @NWSHouston.”
The following day, May 18, 2025, she highlighted her team’s efforts to assist a constituent named Isaac with inquiries related to becoming a commercial pilot through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). She invited others needing help with federal agencies to reach out or visit their constituent services pop-up event. “Team #TX07 worked to help Isaac get answers with the FAA in his effort to become a commercial pilot.”
In a tweet dated May 19, 2025, Fletcher conveyed her sentiments regarding President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. She acknowledged his long-standing dedication to public service and expressed support for him and his family during this challenging time. “Like people across the country, I am saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis.”
Lizzie Pannill Fletcher was born in Houston in 1975 and holds degrees from Kenyon College and the College of William and Mary.
