Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 7th district, has been active on social media discussing various issues and events. Fletcher, who replaced John Culberson in 2019, continues to engage with her constituents through public discussions and commentary on national matters.
On May 20, 2025, Rep. Fletcher invited the public to join a discussion featuring a former NOAA administrator and local meteorologists about the upcoming hurricane season and how recent budget cuts might affect regional preparedness. She urged attendees to RSVP for the event. “Join me tomorrow for a discussion with the former NOAA administrator and local meteorologists about this year’s Hurricane Season and the impact of this year’s cuts to programs on our region’s preparedness.”
The following day, May 21, 2025, she expressed her condolences upon learning of Congressman Gerry Connolly’s passing. Fletcher acknowledged his contributions as a champion for people and extended her sympathies to his family, staff, and constituents in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. “I am saddened to learn of the death of Congressman Gerry Connolly.”
Later that day, Rep. Fletcher questioned the rationale behind holding hearings on critical mineral programs while funding for these initiatives is being cut by a Republican-driven budget proposal in Congress. She indicated her intention to attend these hearings and encouraged others to follow along with developments. “Why are we holding a hearing on programs to shore up critical minerals when the budget that Republicans are jamming through Congress right now cuts funding for those very programs?”
Lizzie Pannill Fletcher was born in Houston in 1975 and holds degrees from Kenyon College (BA) and College of William & Mary (JD). She has been an active representative since taking office.
