U.S. Representative Lizzie Fletcher, who has served multiple terms in Congress after winning elections in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024, posted a series of statements on her official X account regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza and recent redistricting efforts in Texas.
On July 28, 2025, Fletcher addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza, writing, “What we are witnessing in Gaza is an urgent humanitarian crisis. As a co-sponsor of H.Res. 473 calling for delivery and disbursement of aid to civilians, I support immediate, sustained humanitarian aid into Gaza and urge Israel to take action to prevent widespread starvation.”
Later that day, Fletcher discussed redistricting actions underway in Texas. She stated on July 28, “Thank you to @RepWalle for giving me the opportunity to explain why the re-redistricting effort to dismantle Democratic districts that Texas is undertaking at President Trump’s request is so wrong: It is against the law, and it is against the fundamental principle of a”
On July 29, Fletcher continued addressing the redistricting issue by highlighting her testimony before a state committee: “This weekend, I testified before the Texas House Special Legislative Committee at a hearing in Houston about why President Trump’s directive to redraw the Texas maps to eliminate five congressional districts currently held by Democrats is wrong.”
Fletcher’s comments come amid ongoing debates over U.S. foreign policy and domestic electoral practices. The discussion around humanitarian aid for Gaza remains prominent as members of Congress continue to debate appropriate measures for international assistance.
In Texas politics, redistricting has been a recurring topic following each census cycle. Recent efforts have drawn national attention due to directives reportedly linked to former President Trump seeking changes that could affect current Democratic-held districts.
Lizzie Fletcher has maintained her seat through several election cycles. In 2018 she defeated John Culberson with 52.5% of the vote; in 2020 she prevailed over Wesley Hunt with just over half of all votes; she won against Johnny Teague in 2022 with nearly two-thirds of ballots cast; and most recently secured victory over Caroline Kane with more than sixty percent support from voters.
