U.S. Representative Lizzie Fletcher, who has represented Texas’ 7th Congressional District since 2019, recently addressed several issues on her social media account, including student opportunities at U.S. service academies, concerns about FEMA staffing, and the leadership changes at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

On September 5, 2025, Fletcher invited students interested in military service to an informational event: “If you are a student interested in serving our country by attending one of the U.S. service academies—or know one who is—join us on Saturday, September 27 at Tracy Gee Community Center for our annual event to learn more and discuss the nomination and application process with our”.

Later that day, she commented on a recent government report concerning federal emergency response readiness: “The U.S. Government Accountability Office just released a report on the readiness of the federal response workforce and found that FEMA has lost nearly 2,500 employees since the start of the Trump administration. Because of President Trump’s harmful policies, FEMA has lost staff” (September 5, 2025).

In another post from September 5, Fletcher raised concerns about recent personnel changes at the CDC: “The firing of the CDC Director Dr. Susan Monarez and the departure of several other senior CDC officials should alarm all of us.

I joined @EnergyCommerce Democrats to demand hearings on these attacks on our public health system.”

Lizzie Fletcher has maintained her seat through multiple election cycles. In 2024 she defeated Caroline Kane with over sixty percent of the vote; previous victories include wins against Johnny Teague in 2022, Wesley Hunt in 2020, and John Culberson in 2018.
