Rice men’s track and field athlete Jack Greaves was named the American Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement on April 14 by the league.

This recognition highlights Greaves’s recent performance at the 44 Farms Team Invite, where he achieved a personal best with a javelin throw of 74.22 meters, securing first place in the event.

Greaves’s mark currently stands as the top throw in the American Conference, ranks fourth in the NCAA West Region, and is ninth nationally among all NCAA competitors. His achievement comes as Rice prepares for a busy week with upcoming meets at Bryan Clay, Long Beach, and UH.

The conference also recognized Nathan Metelus from South Florida as Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for his performance during this period.

Greaves’s accomplishment underscores his growing prominence within collegiate track and field. The Owls will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming competitions.
