The Houston Chronicle has reported that a Honduran citizen, accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his neighbor in Pasadena, is currently being held under a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) request, as per Harris County court records.

According to the publication, 56-year-old Jose Santos Maldonado-Zavala allegedly approached his upstairs neighbor at the Emerald Pointe Apartments on July 2, under the pretense that her air conditioner was leaking. He then reportedly forced the woman into his apartment and sexually assaulted her. Authorities believe the woman may have been targeted due to perceived vulnerability by Maldonado-Zavala.

Court documents indicate that the incident occurred around midnight at the Emerald Pointe Apartments on Houston Avenue in Pasadena, Texas. The Pasadena Police Department confirmed via social media that the victim reported the assault on the same day it happened. Investigators are actively seeking further information from potential witnesses or those with knowledge of the case.

Harris County court records reveal that Maldonado-Zavala was arrested on July 23, several weeks following the alleged incident. He remains under an ICE hold while his immigration status is investigated. Initially set at $100,000, his bond was later increased to $250,000. He faces charges of kidnapping with an additional sexual assault charge pending.
