The University of Houston Women’s Golf team secured a third-place finish at the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas. The event, held at the Las Vegas Country Club, featured 10 teams ranked among the top 50 nationally.
Junior Maelynn Kim delivered her second consecutive sub-par round with an even-par 72 on Tuesday, finishing with a total score of 217. Kim made six birdies during her final round, including three over four holes midway through her first nine. This performance marked her third straight top-10 finish this season and the sixth of her collegiate career.
Senior Moa Svedenskiöld recorded the team’s lowest round of the day, making three birdies in her first six holes and only one bogey in the final round. She completed the tournament with a two-day total of 218. Svedenskiöld has now achieved four consecutive top-10 finishes this season and 18 overall in her career.
Other contributors included senior Natalie Saint Germain, who tied for 23rd at 225; senior Alexa Saldaña, who finished 33rd at 229; and junior Ellen Yates, who tied for 60th at 239.
Houston posted its best team score of the tournament in the final round with a combined 292, ending with a total score of 886 over three rounds on the par-72 course.
UCF claimed the team championship with a score of 866, finishing ahead of Kent State (879) and Houston (886). UNLV placed fourth (887), followed by Oklahoma State (894), Oregon State (896), Northern Arizona (910), UTSA (912), New Mexico (915), and Baylor (916).
Individually, Veronika Kedronova from Kent State won medalist honors with a score of two-under-par 214. She finished one stroke ahead of Foong Zi Y from UNLV and Mila Jurine from UCF. Pimpisa Sisutham from UCF was fourth at 216.
The Cougars will continue their western tour later this month when they compete at the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona, scheduled for March 20–22.
