The Houston Texans announced on March 23 the appointments of Hannah McNair as Chief Community Officer and Vice President of the Houston Texans Foundation, and Steve Johnson as Chief Planning Officer. These new leadership positions are designed to help guide the organization through its next phase of expansion, including increased community engagement and the development of Toro District, a planned sports and entertainment destination in Bridgeland.
The club said these moves are intended to align its business strategy with broader community impact. The Toro District will serve as a central hub for both team operations and public events.
McNair said, “I’m thrilled to be named Chief Community Officer because our community means so much to me. Giving back has always been at the heart of who we are as an organization and that started with Bob and Janice. She has been an incredible mentor to me and laid the groundwork for the foundation’s success and my growth in this role. We know that football changes lives and I’m excited about the new opportunities and support we will bring to the community as we continue to grow. As we enter this exciting chapter, I’m looking forward to the impact we will continue to make here at home and beyond.” Over her tenure, McNair has led efforts that tripled both reach and impact for the foundation over two years, focusing on youth development, education initiatives, disaster relief work, first responder support, veterans’ programs, equity efforts, as well as leading girls flag football advocacy across Texas.
Texans President Mike Tomon said: “We are looking forward to transformative moments ahead as an organization. Hannah has been the driving force behind our efforts in the community for many years. Her genuine dedication to philanthropy and service is unmatched, and I know that she will further elevate our community impact in this role as we continue our commitment to inspiring hope in Houston. Steve’s return to the Texans is well-timed as we prepare for the future. His expertise is key to our strategic growth priorities with the Toro District and other long-term business objectives.”
Johnson returns after previously serving from 2020-2024 in various roles within business operations; he brings more than two decades of experience from his prior military service where he held command responsibilities at Fort Hood overseeing hundreds of soldiers.
As part of their expanded focus on both athletic programs—such as growing girls flag football—and foundational pillars like disaster response or educational outreach, McNair’s leadership is expected by club officials to strengthen ties throughout Houston while supporting continued organizational growth.
