The University of Houston Men’s Golf team will continue its spring season at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, with play scheduled for April 4 and 5. The Cougars are set to compete in a strong field of 16 teams, including several nationally ranked programs.
This tournament is significant as it offers Houston another opportunity to test itself against some of the top collegiate golf teams in the country. The event follows the Cougars’ recent performance at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, where they tied for ninth place after three consecutive rounds under par.
Under Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, Houston will be represented by senior Hudson Weibel, junior Grant Doggett, junior Chi Chun Chen, sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen and senior Bryant Hiskey II. Weibel leads the team this season with a scoring average of 70.42 and has achieved three individual championships during the 2025-26 campaign. Doggett holds second place on the team with a scoring average of 71.71.
The Augusta Haskins Award Invitational will feature notable programs such as LSU (ranked fourth), Oklahoma State (fifth), Illinois (tenth), Pepperdine (thirteenth), North Carolina (sixteenth) and others. Saturday’s opening round will see Houston grouped with student-athletes from Northwestern and Oregon State beginning at 7:30 a.m., Central Daylight Time.
After competing in Augusta, Houston is scheduled to close out its regular season at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in Chapel Hill on April 11-12 before heading into postseason play at the Big 12 Championships later that month. The team aims to qualify for NCAA Regional play for what would be its sixth consecutive appearance.
Looking ahead, NCAA Regionals are set for May across six sites nationwide if Houston advances.
