Houston Cougars women’s soccer head coach Ben Williams announced on May 13 the addition of transfers Skylar Miller and Bailey Cate to the team’s 2026 roster.

The addition of these two forwards is expected to strengthen the team’s attacking options for the upcoming season. Both players bring experience from competitive collegiate programs, as well as notable high school achievements.

Miller joins Houston after two seasons at Tennessee, where she appeared in 24 matches, including all 19 matches last season. She helped Tennessee achieve a 7-0 start and reach a No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history. Miller started three games last season, scored one goal, and earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. In high school at First Colonial in Virginia Beach, she was named first team all-region and all-state three times and was nominated for Virginia Gatorade State Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. “Skylar is a player we’re extremely excited to bring into our program,” Williams said. “She brings pace, technical quality and versatility in the attacking areas with the ability to create chances, stretch defenses and bring energy and intensity to the group every day. We’re excited to have Skylar as part of our program at Houston and about the impact she’ll have on and off the field.”

Cate arrives from Texas A&M after playing her freshman season there, appearing in 14 out of their 16 games last year with ten shots recorded. At Lubbock-Cooper High School, Cate was recognized twice with all-state honors; she also earned Hub City Preps Offensive Player of the Year recognition in 2023 along with being named District 4-5A MVP three years running from 2022 through 2024. “Bailey is a fantastic addition to our program because she brings a dynamic attacking mentality, tremendous work rate and the ability to impact a match in the final third with creativity, skill and goal scoring ability,” Williams said. “We’re thrilled to welcome Bailey to Houston and believe she has tremendous upside ahead of her.”
