The University of Houston Track & Field team won three conference titles as the men’s squad finished third overall at the 2026 Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship held Saturday, May 17 at Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.

The event saw Texas Tech secure the men’s title with 127 points, followed by Arizona in second place with 101 points. Houston finished third with a total of 87.33 points. On the women’s side, Texas Tech also claimed victory with 119.5 points while Houston’s women placed fourteenth with a score of 20.5 points after earning marks in several events including hurdles and relays.

Junior Antrea Mita earned his first outdoor Big 12 title in the men’s high jump by clearing a personal best of 2.26 meters, which ties him for third on Houston’s all-time performance list. Graduate Canaan Wharry took home the men’s discus championship after achieving a season-best mark of 58.49 meters on his third attempt, moving up to fifth all-time for Houston in that event.

The Cougars’ men’s 4×100-meter relay team—composed of graduate Ryan Mulholland, freshman Sean Aigboboh, senior Dakari Charlton and senior Louie Hinchliffe—secured its second Big 12 title after previously winning in 2024. The quartet set a facility record and posted the seventh-fastest time in program history at 38.51 seconds.

Additional highlights included strong performances from H-Town Speed City sprinters who scored significant points across multiple events: Hinchliffe finished second (9.97) and Charlton third (10.11) in the men’s 100-meter final; Charlton also placed third (20.28) and Jaelyn Reeves-Lile fourth (20.35) in the men’s 200-meter final; Miracle Thompson placed eighth (13.22) in women’s hurdles; and both relay teams posted season- or program-best times.

Looking ahead, fans are encouraged to support Houston Track & Field through NIL opportunities or joining their Podium Club to help meet needs beyond its operating budget.
